In the winter months
Downhill skiing
At Misurina there is the double Col de Varda chair-lift that serves 2-3 pistes having considerable slope variations. The altitude and artificial snow facilities guarantee good snow conditions, with breathtaking scenery. On the other side of the lake, again at Misurina, there is the ski-lift for beginners.
Ski mountaineering
Ski mountaineering trails in Misurina are also ideal for non-experts. The Cadini group of mountains offers many beautiful and relatively easy descents, including Val d’Onge and Val Cianpedele, both served by ski-lifts.
For those not enamored with skiing, it is possible to climb on foot or snowmobiles to Tre Cime di Lavaredo or Mount Piana, and to come down on a toboggan.
Ice Skating (on Lake Antorno)
If you want to experience the emotion of skating on a frozen lake, there can be no more enchanting place than Lake Antorno (Misurina, 2 Km from the hotel). The backdrop is Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the great mountaineering challenge, and the Cadini group of Misurina.
The skating facility is open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the evening hours, skating carries on under torchlight. At Lake Antorno skates can be hired.
Snowshoeing trails
And for those who prefer not to ski… There are snowshoes! An excellent way of enjoying the natural beauty of Misurina and surrounding mountains at the Dolomites Ski Area.
There are many trails (all signposted) and pleasant surprises. When snowshoeing along trails it is not uncommon to come across local fauna, such as roe deer and ibex.
N.B. Before starting out always check the weather forecast and snow conditions. Always go with expert guides that have a deep knowledge of the area.
Cross-country skiing
A cross-country skier’s dreams come true at Misurina. Snow-covered pistes from the first week of December and through to late spring: Misurina is ideal for cross-country skiing. Here you can ski at an altitude of 1,760 meters!
You can choose from two circuits – 7.5 or 2 km – that wind their way along the valleys and through the forests of Misurina. Misurina's cross-country trails are part of the Dolomiti NordicSki circuit, Europe’s biggest cross-country skiing carousel, with 1,300 km of perfectly prepared tracks).
Sled and bob trails (Tre cime di Lavaredo and Mount Piana)
In the winter period, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Mount Piana can be reached using snowmobiles.
Fun toboggans can be used to make the descent. It is possible to arrange a night-time trip to Tre Cime di Lavaredo or Mount Piana, including dinner at one of the local restaurants.
For those preferring a more active social life, a 20 minute car journey takes you to the “Queen of the Dolomites”: Cortina d’Ampezzo. It is also possible to quickly reach Val Pusteria and the Austrian border.
